The VCCD and the States’s Water Management District serve several purposes, one which is providing anglers with fishable areas. There are many places to fish in and near the Villages. The Villages have Important rules to follow for fishing. The state also has regulations to follow. There are also a lot of private property and other areas that are prohibited to fish at.

Can I Take A Charter Fishing Trip On Lake Sumter?

You CAN take a charter fishing trip on Lake Sumter. This is how.

  • First you have to create an account with The Villages Community Development District Recreation And Parks.
  • Then goto the Guide Charter Schedule and register for the date you want that is available.
  • It is $250 dollars per charter fishing trip for residents of the villages.

What Are The Fishing Rules For The Villages?

Village Community Development Districts (VCDD) and with the Freshwater Fishing Club has Drawn Up These Rules

  • If you are 16 years old to 65 years old you need a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission fishing license.
    • Freshwater license
    • Resident Annual:  $17.00
    • Resident Five-Year:  $79.00
    • Non-Resident Annual:  $47.00
    • Non-Resident 3-Day:  $17.00
    • Non-Resident 7-Day:  $30.00
  • Fishing licenses can be purchased at:
  • No trespassing on private property and golf courses.
  • No Fishing where signs are posted along with Lake Sumter, Harmswood.
  • No Trespassing in jurisdictional wetlands.
  • No feeding of any wildlife and respect others property, vegetation, foliage, and landscaping.
  • Park in designated area.
  • Catch and Release Fishing .
  • No litter.
  • Any body of water may be restricted at any time.
  • Fishing at your own risk.

Silver Lake

Located Dustin Drive next to the Silver Lake Rec. Center. You can fish the entire lake (respect homeowner property).

Local fisherman of the Villages have suggested Silver Lake as a good spot for fishing. Using worms is a great option for bait at Silver Lake.
